This fascinating little rock built cottage was for sale some time ago, but sadly the owner died, and the family have now consolidated the old building and the house next door into one property.

The little rock house is said to be about 300 years old, and with restoration would make an interesting cottage or maybe even a small museum. It has two large rooms on the upper floor, and on the lower floor.

Next door is a more modern house, with two large upper rooms, and a third room extension, and beyond this attached is another original small house about 100 years old, built of rock with a superb dry stone walls. At the end of the inner courtyard is a wonderful barn, made entirely from rock, with a high vaulted timber roof, probably of oak. The barn is substantial enough to be converted into a splendid living space.

In the courtyard there are some other small outbuildings including a little ‘summer kitchen’ and a well, fruit trees and grapevine.

The land at the rear of the properties slopes up a hill with unobstructed views and open land to forests and hills. There are superb views across the village, the village church, and to the distant mountains.

The little village is virtually unchanged in the last 100 or so years, but is only about a mile from the main road between Cristuru and Odorheiu. This newly surfaced road leads to the international E60 where it connects near to the famous town of Sighisoara, the birth place of Count Dracula, or in real life, Vlad Dracul. This would only be a 20 minute drive from the village to the E60, which goes north to Tirgu Mures and Cluj, and south to Brasov.

The road in the village is appalling, in fact a muddy track at the moment. This is actually because they are currently installing mains water, sewage and even a town gas supply, and when this is completed the road will be built. At this time a 4X4 or a horse are essential.

This is a unique and fascinating property which requires some imagination and restoration. The price of the entire property is 68,000 euros.
